2nd prize competition

The building is a monolithic sculpture defining a corner of the town. The site of the project is situated in the north area of Teheran at the bottom of the Alborz Mountain on the Vali Asr Avenue.
The volume of the building is entirely made of concrete and glass, it is inspired to the near Alborz Mountain; it is like a piece of stone falling apart from the mountain, landing in the city, standing as an inhabited sculpture, as landmark of the Vali Asr Avenue.
The building is made up of the aggregation of pure volumes dug by vertical cuts that frame the internal square, creating a sequence of mass and void, light and shadow; this language evokes the characteristic Arab element (Evan, caravanserai).
The building is like a monolithic volume relatively closed to the exterior and more open to the internal courtyard.
The system of opening evocates the erosion of the mountain by the wind, it varies according to the luminosity comfort, the quality of the space and the orientation of the building.
The building is composed of 4 elements connected by a bridge made of glass. The commercial units occupy the ground floor and part of the first floor, they face the street and the internal square. From level 2 to level 6 there are bureau, and at level 7, the apartments. In the underground levels there are storages of the commercial area and a car park in 4 levels.
