COTTONE+INDELICATO ARCHITECTS was established in 2009 in Sciacca, Sicily; founded by Mario Cottone and Gregorio Indelicato.
They have attended the Faculty of Architecture of Palermo and worked in international practices such as David Chipperfield Architects in London and RCR Arquitectes in Olot, Spain.
The project activity of the study is based on an architecture that interacts with the natural and anthropised environment, with the topography and climate and, at the same time, interprets the identity of a place and its culture.
The volumes of the projects relate to the functional program and the fluidity of the pathways, they are formed from simple volumes, obtained by addition of linear elements or by subtraction of mass. The design concept is the expressive tension that is generated between the dynamic sequences and their aggregation into simple shapes.
The aim of the study is to develop an architecture that is able to reconfigure and redevelop the sites and is finalized to the environmental and social sustainability.
The design of spaces is based on the concepts of simplicity and functionality, where people are involved and where people feel protagonist.
